Window Tinting in Port Washington, NY

Professional tint installation for heat rejection, glare control, UV protection and privacy.

Window tint is a film applied to the inside of the glass. Done well it cuts heat and glare, blocks UV and adds privacy, and it looks like it came from the factory.

Done badly it bubbles, creases at the edges and turns purple after a couple of summers. The difference is largely film quality and installation care.

Heat, glare and UV

The most noticeable benefit day to day is heat. A tinted cabin heats up less when parked in summer sun and cools faster once moving. Glare reduction matters most in low winter sun and at night against headlights.

The benefit owners think about least is UV. Sustained sun exposure is what fades and cracks dashboards and dries out leather, and blocking it protects the interior you are sitting in as much as it protects you.

Installation is most of the job

Tint is applied to the inside of the glass, so the glass has to be genuinely clean first - any speck of dust trapped underneath becomes a permanent visible flaw. The film is also shaped to the curve of the glass before it goes on, which is where skill and patience show.

After installation the film needs time to cure. It is normal to see slight haziness or small water pockets for a few days while remaining moisture evaporates, and windows should be left alone during that period.

A note on the law

New York State regulates how much light vehicle windows must let through, and the rules differ by window. We will talk you through what is permissible for your vehicle before anything is applied, rather than installing something that fails inspection.

What this typically involves

The exact steps depend on the vehicle and its condition. A window tinting commonly involves:

  • Consultation on film choice and legal limits
  • Thorough glass preparation
  • Film shaped to each window
  • Professional installation
  • Aftercare guidance for the curing period

Common questions

How dark can I legally go in New York?

New York sets minimum light transmission levels and they vary by window position. We will go through what is permissible for your vehicle before installing anything, so the car still passes inspection.

How long before I can roll the windows down?

The film needs a curing period, and windows should stay up throughout. We will tell you how long for the film used on your vehicle when you collect it.

Why does old tint turn purple?

Cheaper dyed films break down under UV exposure, losing their colour stability and fading toward purple. Better films use different construction and hold their colour far longer.
